Popular songwriter and film director Gurcharan Virk's death came in as a shock for the Punjabi industry.
Gurcharan, 42, died of a heart attack at PGI, Chandigarh, after prevailing illness. He was last seen working for Ranjit Bawa starrer Toofan Singh, which has been shelved at the moment.
His last rites will be conducted at his native village Araian Wala in Faridkot district, Punjab. Gurcharan's songs have changed the destiny of many artists overnight.
Gurcharan started his career in 1983 by recording a song. Some of the movies on which he worked as associate director include, Marhi Da Deeva and Udeekan Saun Diyan. He directed the television films of Fauji Di Family, Bapu Di Pension, Police Naaka, Attro Diyan Chugliyan, Maawan De Dil, Sardaari and Bapu Da Viah.
He completed his post graduate degree from Punjab University, Chandigarh. His father's primary occupation was farming.
His demise has brought in a sense of grief in the entire Punjabi industry.
