This Is The Holy Place Where Guru Nanak Dev Ji Said "Kirat Karo, Wand Shako"
Gurudwara Darbar Sahib Kartar Pur, a Gurudwara in Kartarpur, Narowal District, Pakistan, 120 km from Lahore is built on the historic site where Guru Nanak Dev Ji died on 23rd Assu, Samvat 1596 (22 September 1539).
Guru Sahib used to do kirat here, work on farms and it is here that he said, "Kirat Karo, Wand Shako".
Also called as Dera Baba Nanak, this holy shrine is located by the river Ravi and is served by Dera Sahib railway station, which is nearly 4 kilometres away.
The structure of the Gurughar was built at a cost of Rs. 1,35,600, which was donated by the Maharaja of Patiala - Sardar Bhupinder Singh. In the year 1995, the Government of Pakistan repaired the building and the restoration process finally completed in the year 2004.
The Gurudwara building is huge and spacious but because of it's placement amidst a forest and by Ravi, it's care is a little difficult.
As the shrine lies only 3 kilometers from the border with India, Pakistan in the year 2000 agreed to allow Sikh pilgrims from India to visit the shrine visa passport-free by constructing a bridge from the border to the shrine - however the Government of India has not signaled its willingness to participate in the scheme for the past 12 years and so no such visits are currently taking place.
