Punjab & Haryana High Court Rejects FIR Filed Against Miss Pooja And Others
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has rejected FIR filed against the popular Punjabi singer Miss Pooja, Harish Verma and others for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
The matter pertains to her 2018 released music video, ‘Jeeju’ which depicts Pooja beating up her drunk husband, who she imagines him to be a Yamraj, a deity in Hinduism. The trail in the court for the same was going on for quite sometime now. A lawyer had submitted a complaint, and a FIR under sections 295-A, 499, and 500 IPC was filed at the Rupnagar Police Station on the direction of a Magistrate under Section 156 (3) CrPC. According to Advocate KS Dadwal, the offered song is a work of fiction in which the female heroine imagines her husband to be a Yamraj while keeping the donkey aside. The song has nothing which might hurt religious sentiments.
On the other hand, the defendant lawyer claimed the act to harass the singer.
