Let’s Take A Lookback At The List Of Punjabi Films Arun Bali Has Been A Part Of

Late actor Arun Bali in a career spanning over more than four decades, played every character with utmost honesty. His each and every character made an immediate connect with the audience. Largely seen in ‘grandfatherly’ roles, Arun would always come across as a positive personality.

In a long career span, Bali worked in several Hindi movies and TV Shows but his works in Punjabi films can not be overlooked.

The film was released in the year 2008 which starred Avtar Gill, Neelu Kohli, Manpreet Singh, Dolly Minhas, Kimi Verma and others. This Kamal Sahni directorial featured Arun Bali in the role of Simar’s (Manpreet Singh) father.


Who doesn’t remember watching this Jimmy Sheirgill and Neeru Bajwa starrer, ‘Munde U.K. De’. Directed by Manmohan Singh, the film was released in the year 2009.

The film was about an NRI youngster played by Jimmy Shergill who comes to India along with his friend (Gurpreet Ghuggi) to meet his grandfather (Arun Bali). He falls for his cousin’s friend (Neeru Bajwa) but the girl’s father (Deep Dhillon) wants his daughter to get married to his friend's son (Amrinder Gill).


Another film featuring Arun Bali was released in the same year which was titled, ‘Apni Boli Apna Des’. Directed by Ravindra Peepat, the story revolved around a wealthy family which goes through a difficult financial calamity leading to a conflict between a son and a father. The son is left with a choice either to choose his love or his family.

In this family drama, Arun Bali was seen playing the character of Arjun Singh.

The film was released in the year 2018 which starred, Gurjind Maan, Sarthi K, Kuljinder Sidhu, Annie Sekhon, Anita Devgan, Yaad Grewal, Ashish Duggal, Nitu Pandher, Jai Shri, Arun Bali, Rupinder Rupi, Vikas Kohli, Mani Kular, Davvy Singh and others.

Directed by Taj, Punjab Singh is the story of a young villager who relocates to the city to make a living. But a tragic incident forced him to become a gangster with a motive of eradicating the mafia leader Lally Sarkaria.

Another one was 2016 release, ‘Once Upon A Time In Amritsar’ which starred Dilpreet Dhillon, Gurjind Maan, Tanvi Nagi, Pavan Malhotra and others.

Directed by Harjit Singh Ricky, the film was rather thought provoking which lacked a fixed motive but managed to stir one’s deepest emotions. In the film, Arun Bali had played father of Gurtej (Gurjind Maan).


The last Punjabi film featuring Arun Bali was ‘Kake Da Viah’ released in the year 2019. Directed by Rai Yuvraj Bains, the comedy film portrayed the story of a man’s mother and grandmother who assert that each of them would select a bride for him. He finds himself in a fix when their choices differ and to top it all, he is already in love with a girl.

Well, in all these movies, performance of the veteran actor stood out irrespective of the timing he got on screen. This quality is possessed by great actors only and he was surely the one!
