Jointly written by Nandita Das and Samir Patil, ‘Zwigato’ starring Kapil Sharma and Shahana Goswami will have its world premiere at the prestigious 47th Toronto International Film Festival [TIFF] 2022 in the ‘Contemporary World Cinema’ section. The film is also helmed by Nanidta.

The official trailer of the film has not been launched yet but the Toronto International Film Festival’s Twitter handle shared the trailer of Zwigato which shows a scene between Kapil and Shahana, who plays his wife in the film. 

The news becomes even more exciting as it presents a serious side of Kapil who is generally expected to do comedy. It can be ascertained from the short video clip that Kapil is playing a struggling middle class man who is struggling to make ends meet and tied to old patriarchal social norms as he cannot bear his wife earning more than him. Made under the banner of Applause Entertainment and Nandita Das Initiatives, the film will be bankrolled by Sameer Nair, Deepak Segal and Nandita Das.

For the unversed, TIFF 2022 will commence on September 8 and will end on September 18.
