A bribery case against Sangrur superintendent of police Karanveer Singh came into light where veteran actor Hobby Dhaliwal along with a senior police constable namely, Amandeep Singh have turned witnesses. Reportedly, both recorded their statements in the case in the district session court.

It has been revealed that Hasandeep Singh and Kirpal Singh who are acquaintances of both the witnesses allegedly paid Rs. 3 Lakh to a cop namely Davinder Singh who further passed it on to SP Karanveer to settle an FIR. In the statement, it has been stated that they had accompanied the complainants to SP Palwinder Singh Cheema’s office to record their statement before the SIT which was given without the use of any force or influence. Earlier, on May 13, it was alleged in the Punjab and Haryana high court that Sangrur police used them as a tool to register the case against SP Karanveer Singh. They had also alleged Sangrur police of forcing them to sign a blank paper.
Let us tell you, the FIR in the matter pertained to a case of attempt to murder which was registered against Gurmej Singh (husband), Balwinder Kaur (mother-in-law), Bupinder Singh (marriage broker) and Komaljeet Kaur and Shaminder Kaur (both sister-in-laws) at the Khanauri police station for allegedly setting 33-year-old Parmjit Kaur on fire.
