‘Honsla Rakh’ Trailer Review: Looks Like A Typical Comedy But We’re Still Keeping ‘Honsla’

By: Gurleen | September 28, 2021

One of the most awaited trailers for this year dropped yesterday. Yes, I am talking about the Punjabi movie ‘Honsla Rakh’!

To begin with, it is the classic Diljit Dosanjh movie—full of fun, comedy and quirkiness, a typical chaotic Punjabi film. The star cast includes Shehnaaz Gill, Sonam Bajwa, Diljit Dosanjh and Shinda Grewal. Looking at the star cast anyone can guess that it will be kind of a love triangle. But coming back to the trailer, it began with the cries of a child and Diljit saying “Excuse me Paaji, please apne baby nu chup kraoge, tuhade baby de chakkar ch mere baby da romance kharab ho rea hai” and the comedy begins. However, the first look of Shehnaaz was not as appealing as her dialogue delivery started off weakly.

Even though the trailer will make you laugh till you roll off the bed, it covers an important topic at the same time i.e. being a single dad! As far as the trailer reveals, the story is about Dosanjh being a single dad after he and his wife Shehnaaz Gill get an unwanted pregnancy and Gill leaves him. Once his son (aka Shinda Grewal), literally named ‘Honsla’ (Courage) grows up a little, he is seen helping his dad approach his crush, here enters Sonam Bajwa. Sadly, it was disappointing to see that the level of Sonam Bajwa’s glam looks onscreen has gone down in this film as compared to her other works.

With the tactics of Diljit as a single dad plus the chaos of relationships and crushes, we can anticipate the rollercoaster ride this movie will be. Also Read: Vicky Kaushal Starrer Sardar Udham Singh’s Teaser Is Out, Here’s What We Saw!

Lastly, the film does have similarities with Diljit’s 2019 Hindi film ‘Good Newwz’, which also revolved around the issue of pregnancy and the chaos it causes! And I cannot say it enough time but it is a typical comic performance by Dosanjh, one we’ve seen him do repeatedly in the last few years.

The film is written by Rakesh Dhawan, directed by Amarjit Singh Saron and produced by Daljit Thind and Diljit Dosanjh. The final verdict about the movie will be passed only after we get to see how Amarjit Singh Saron added his magic to the film because even though we loved his debut directorial film ‘Kala Shah Kala’ (2019), his second film ‘Jhalle’ (2019) left us wanting more. The film releasing in cinemas on October 15, 2021, will definitely tickle your funny bone! If you haven’t seen it yet, watch the trailer here:
