A recent development has come in for the fans of the late singer Sardool Sikander. A road will be named after the legend.
After the veteran passed away on Feruary 24, 2021, his fans and the entire Punjabi fraternity was left in deep shock. Now, after almost 2 weeks from the day he passed away, the Punjab Forests, Social Justice, Empowerment, Minorities and Printing & Stationery Minister Sadhu Singh Dharmsot announced, on behalf of the state government, that the road leading from village Bullepur (Khanna) to his house would be named Sardool Sikandar Marg.
On Sunday, 7th March 2021, while addressing a gathering at the grain market during the bhog and antim ardas of late Sardool Sikander, Dharmsot said that a memorial will also be built as per his family's wish.
He further revealed that he had met Sardool a day before his death and the duo shared a detailed discussion.
While talking about the veteran singer, Dharmsot said that Sikander was a gem of the Punjabi music industry and his death has deeply saddened every Punjabi living in Punjab and overseas. He has left behind a void that will be impossible to fill.
While paying tributes to the late singer, Fatehgarh Sahib MP Dr Amar Singh stated that Sardool Sikander was born in a poor family but he scaled all heights in classical music. Khanna MLA Gurkirat Singh Kotli also paid homage to the late singer and said that we feel proud that the latter was a resident of Khanna city who has made the city’s name famous all over the country and the world.
Sikander's last prayers saw a huge pour in of his fans and many others who wished to bid him a final adieu through their prayers.
