Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Sidhu alias Sidhu Moosewala has been granted anticipatory bail by a Sangrur court in the case registered against him at Sadar police station, Dhuri. The court has further asked the singer to join the police investigation and not leave the country without taking prior permission from the court.
As per the order of Gurpartarp Singh, Additional Session Judge Sangrur, the firing incident due to which Sidhu Moosewala was booked under sections 188 IPC, 1860 and 51 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 & 25/29/30/54/59 of Arms act at Sadar police station, Dhuri, was organized by the police where they were even seen helping the accused. The order further states that it was only after the video went viral that an FIR was registered against the singer as a face-saving move by the police. The police are yet to receive a report from CFSL regarding the authenticity of the viral video clip. It was further added that the incident did not cause any injury to any person.
As soon as the anticipatory bail was granted to the singer, he was directed by the court to join the police investigation within a week's time. He will have to make himself available for the investigation at all times, will not tamper with the prosecution evidence, and will not leave the country without prior permission from the court, said the orders.
