The demise of music composer Wajid Khan of Sajid-Wajid fame today morning in a Mumbai hospital has sent shock waves to Bollywood and the music world.
Reportedly, he had multiple health issues. He had a kidney issue and had undergone a transplant a while ago. He was hospitalized a few days back due to kidney infection and was on a ventilator for the last four days. His medical situation got worse due to the kidney infection but he passed away after suffering a cardiac attack. It has also been confirmed that Wajid was tested positive for COVID-19.
Bollywood fraternity has mourned the demise of the composer with tweets pouring in from likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Priyanka Chopra, Parineeti Chopra, Karan Johar, Varun Dhawan, Preity Zinta, and others.
Wajid Khan’s colleagues from the music industry also remembered the composer in fond memories. Singer-composer Salim Merchant of Salim – Suleiman fame, posted this heart-wrenching tweet: "You've gone too soon. It's a huge loss to our fraternity. I'm shocked and broken.”
Tributes also poured in from singers Sonu Nigam, Vishal Dadlani, Shankar Mahadevan, Adnan Sami, Harshdeep Kaur, composer duo Sachin-Jigar and others.
Known for delivering peppy numbers with his brother, the duo Sajid-Wajid started their career in 1998 with Salman Khan starrer Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya, and continued giving hit numbers with the superstar. They composed music for Dabangg franchise, Chori Chori, Hello Brother, Wanted and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Partner, Welcome, etc. Sajid-Wajid also composed the theme songs for Salman Khan-hosted reality TV shows Bigg Boss 4 and Bigg Boss 6. They had recently composed the actor’s single, Bhai Bhai, as well.
A source close to the family revealed to the news agency PTI that Khan was buried around 1 PM, today. Because of the coronavirus-induced lockdown in Mumbai, only 20 people were allowed for the funeral with police security and barricades. "Only close family, including brother Sajid and friends from the industry, were present," the sources said.
