A resident of Shastri Nagar, Ludhiana, Alok, the brother in law of veteran Punjabi actor Jaswinder Bhalla, committed suicide on Monday. According to reports, Alok, a car trader, committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling fan in his room. Before taking this extreme step, the man wrote down a suicide note which has the names of those who are responsible for his death!
Alok, reportedly, went upstairs to his room at around 1 pm, when his parents were on the ground floor. He bolted his room's door and hanged himself from the ceiling fan with a nylon wire.
His wife Manpreet Kaur is a lecturer at the Government College for Girls. She called him repeatedly but her calls went unanswered. She rushed back home and found her husband hanging from the ceiling fan.
The suicide note left behind by Alok has been recovered by Model Town police. It carried the names of three persons - Tribhuvan, Karanjeet and Harinder Singh - for his taking this extreme step. The men, he wrote, had taken a sum of Rs 50 lakh from him and were not returning it. His dire straits left him depressed and he had no other option.
The police have also recorded the statement of Manpreet. On the basis of the note and Manpreet's statement, a case under Section 306 (abetment of suicide) of the IPC has been registered against the trio.
Alok's body was sent to the civil hospital for post mortem. He is survived by his elderly parents, five-year-old son and wife, Manpreet Kaur.
