Veteran actress Vidya Sinha passed away on Thursday. She was suffering from lung disorder and was on a ventilator for the last few days. Known for her middle-class portrayal in Hindi films, Vidya had done some remarkable work in films like Rajnigandha, Choti Si Baat, Karm, Pati Patni Aur Woh, Inkaar, Tumhare Liye, Kitaab, Meera, Swayamvar, Love Story to name a few.
She hailed from the family of filmmakers and started her career as a model. She was already married when she did her first film. After a point, she bid goodbye to the acting world, to raise her adopted daughter. Post the death of her husband in 1996, she got married to an Australia based doctor, in 2001. But her marriage ended on a bitter note with a divorce.
Coming to films, what makes her filmography interesting is her association with two Punjabi films Udeekan and Sardar E Azam. She did a special appearance in Udeekan along with her most frequent co-star Sanjeev Kumar. She played the role of an army nurse in Udeekan. While in Sardar E Azam, she was in an extended cameo alongside Vijay Tandon, who played the titular role in it.
"I am terribly grieved at this news. It was my privilege to work with this fabulous actress," said Vijay Tandon.
Vidya Sinha returned back to acting with Hindi film Bodyguard (2011) and kept herself busy with a couple of TV serials. She was actively working in serials until her health took a toll on more acting assignments.
