Sapna Pabbi is a name which created a sensation in Bollywood when her debut movie ‘Khamoshiyan’ hit the screens on 30th January 2015. Everyone, right from critics to fans, was in awe of this girl who had come all the way from London. Praises started pouring upon Sapna from all the corners and through ‘Khamoshiyan’, she announced her solid arrival to the world of acting.
Soon after ‘Khamoshiyan,’ she came back with the sequel of TV series ‘24’ in which she reprised the role of Kiran Jai Singh Rathod, which turned her into a blue-eyed girl among the critics. Soon after, she marked her Pollywood debut opposite Gippy Grewal in the star-studded ‘Mar Gaye Oye Loko’; a comedy based on the post-life incidents of small-town boy Tittu.
Here too she received a lot of praise from the Punjabi audience for her role of ‘Simran’. Especially her ‘typical Punjabi’ style in the movie surprised many, as it was least expected from a girl who was born and brought up in a highly westernized city like London.
Although Sapna has her roots in London, she is very much Punjabi like all of us. This girl who likes to speak Punjabi more than any other language and likes to don Patiala suits more than any western attire can steal any heart.
Sapna is a diehard Gurdas Maan fan and loves his all-time classic movie ‘Ucha Dar Babe Nanak Da’ whereas ‘Paranthas and ‘Saag’ are her favorite cuisines apart from other desi Indian cuisines. In an interview, Sapna even revealed that when she told her family that she is doing a Punjabi movie they almost jumped into elation as her father always wanted her to do a Punjabi movie.
Not just Sapna but even her family members too are very much Punjabi by their nature and a reflection of which is Sapna, who has kept that Punjabi within her alive even amongst the westerners.
She will next be seen in the forthcoming release Ardaas Karaan, this time yet again opposite Gippy Grewal. The film is set to release on 19th July 2019 and has an ensemble cast including actors like Gurpreet Ghuggi, Yograj Singh, Sardar Sohi, Malkeet Rauni, Rana Jung Bahadur, and more besides herself and Gippy Grewal.
The makers of this film have decided to release chapters as mini trailers and the first chapter shall release on 20th June, followed by the others.
