By: Gurwinder | February 15, 2019

Kabir Khan's 83 is about the historic win of the 1983 World Cup. The Indian Cricket Team won its first world cup under the captainship of Kapil Dev, whose role will be essayed by the flamboyant yet superbly talented actor Ranveer Singh.

After playing a hockey player in Harjeeta, Ammy Virk will be seen playing the role of fast bowler Balwinder Singh Sandhu in 83. Recently, Harrdy Sandhu also joined the cast of the film. In real life, Punjabi singer-actor Harrdy has been a cricketer himself and has even played for the under 19 team along with Shikhar Dhawan, in the past. But he could not continue with the sport due to his elbow injury. In recent times, he played cricket in celebrity cricket league, so, Harrdy is the apt choice for the role of a cricketer. Actors like Tahir Raj Hussain & Sunny Kaushal are also a part of 83.

But another lad from Punjab has recently been roped in for the film. Actor Anjum Batra, who has done Punjabi and Hindi films as supporting cast, has been signed for the film. Last seen in the prominent grey shaded role in Arjun Kapoor-Parineeti Chopra starrer Namaste London, Anjum will get to play an important character in 83.

So, is Anjum also playing the role of a cricketer in 83?

"No, I am not playing a cricketer but my role is pretty interesting. My character is of an NRI who is a cricket freak. At this point, I can't reveal more than this," said Anjum.

The man has already shared screen space with Harrdy Sandhu in the Punjabi film Mahi NRI. What is his take on working with Harrdy again?

"I am really looking forward to working with Harrdy again," concluded Batra.

Other than 83, Anjum is also doing a crime based web series for a YouTube channel SIT(Shitty Ideas Trending) and a fictional series based on real-life courtroom stories called 'Courtroom' for Colors Channel.

We hope 83 will turn out to be a turning point for the humble Abohar boy Anjum Batra.
