Synopsis: Ardaas Karaan is a film that revolves around multiple characters. The primary story is of an aged man living in Canada who is undergoing depression. Two of his friends of the same age as his also have their individual stories. One day, while taking suicidal suggestions from his friends, the trio come across a young man who sells them a travel plan. They leave for Intra Canadian tour and that's when they meet a man who changes their thought process forever.

Review: Ardaas Karaan, the film itself had cold sweats as it had to live up to the expectations that people had of it after watching it's prequel Ardaas. While the makers constantly said that this one will be a level up, many thought that they're making false promises. But, the film proved the makers right and stood up as an entity that has outdone all the others that were supposedly in competition with it.

The credit of this film's power-packed presentation cannot be given to one person therefore, it can be said that this one is an example of fantastic teamwork. When a set of extremely creative minds sit down to brainstorm to their level of excellence, the outcome is a film like Ardaas Karaan. From story, casting, direction, cinematography, to music, the film had everything on spot and didn't falter even a single bit at any point.

Generally, films that have stories moving back and forth in time tend to lose out amidst multiple transitions but this film had stories moving from one era to the other as swiftly as could be, without any sudden jerks. The stories had a connect and the connect was brilliant. Each subplot had a message of its own and showed real household problems. Anyone and everyone can relate to these stories and feel the pain that the characters are going through.

The story and screenplay of this film is a work of in-depth knowledge and utmost creativity. Only a few are blessed with such imagination to enter people's life, project the pain onscreen and win over the viewers with sheer brilliance. Gippy Grewal and Rana Ranbir's bombastic combination has definitely outdone all their previous work with Ardaas Karaan and hats off to these men for this gift for the Punjabi Cinema lovers.

The actors Gurpreet Ghuggi, Malkeet Rauni, Rana Jung Bahadur, Sardar Sohi have all performed their bests. Each one of these men has surprised us with his respective acts and their characters actually represented different shades in a person's real life, like agony, superstition, joy, and motivation. It is obvious that the wittiest man who stood out was Magic Singh.

Gurpreet Ghuggi has yet again proved that men who are mostly termed as comedians are actually the best at emoting sentiments onscreen. Another comedian to be mentioned here is Rana Ranbir, a man who has always been a laughable character onscreen but his mighty pen has offered the audiences some of the finest soul-stirring dialogues in Ardaas Karaan.

Gippy Grewal has himself taken a relative backseat in terms of characterization. Though he too has a very important story still, the man has given more mileage to the other actors probably that was his Director self's demand of the script.

Actors Sapna Pabbi, Japji Khaira, Meher Vij, Kulwinder Sidhu, Gurpreet Bhangu, Hobby Dhaliwal, Babbal Rai, Raghveer Boli, and most of the others have been convincing onscreen and those who stood out in the little that they were given are Yograj Singh, Gurfateh Grewal and Seerat Rana. As debutantes both Gurfateh and Seerat have done quite well though Gurfateh's innocence was too much for us to handle!

Talking about the songs then the music of Ardaas Karaan is bound to haunt you and you'll involuntarily sing 'Satgur Pyaare' throughout the day.

As the director, Gippy Grewal has yet again proved his mettle with Ardaas Karaan. His vision was clear, his learnings from Ardaas were evident and his risk of making such a grand scale Punjabi film has proved that the man has a sane head on his shoulders who knows his craft pretty well now. Kudos to his efforts we're eager to see more projects from this visionary.

Overall, Ardaas Karaan is a perfect mix of quirky humor with emotional ups and downs and an enlightening message that has the tendency of changing the lives of those who understand the crux of this film.

Verdict: Ardaas Karaan is a life-changing film that will help you re-analyze your problems with a completely new perspective. A family must watch, Ardaas Karaan is a gem of Punjabi Cinema.
