Sardar Avtar Singh, father of the director duo Rimpy (alias Padamjit Singh) and Prince (alias Harpreet Singh) passed away on 25th November. This director duo work under the banner of Rimpy Cine Sound Master, a company formed by their father Avtar Singh in 1980, who was an electronics engineer then.
Born to Sardar Raghbir Singh and Sardarni Ranjit Kaur on 18th November, 1945 at Jalandhar, Avtar Singh discovered his fascination with the sound of music – its rhythm and tweaking at an early age. He was one of the pioneers of the Punjabi music and film industry who played a major role in the transition of Punjabi music and film industry from analog to digital era.
He has even written nearly ten stage plays including 'Jamman Dhiyan, Wikken Ma Pae' and 'Kudi Jhangh Syaal De' has also acted in 6 Punjabi films including 'Babul da Vehra' and more.
He is credited for establishing the first professional recording studio in Punjab and the first Punjabi record label under the name 'Rimpy Cine Sound Master'. He has worked with an array of Punjabi singers and produced many hit tracks for the music lovers. He has been an inspiration for his sons Rimpy Prince, who are a well established director duo in the Punjabi industry.
