The shoot of Manjeet Maan directorial Nankana has begun and not just the title but even the unconventional starcast of the film made us inquisitive about the project. Being made under the banner of Shah and Shah Pictures, 'Nankana' is scheduled for release on 6 July 2018.
Music maestro Jatinder Shah has turned producer with this project and we got a chance to have a candid conversation with him regarding his first home production. He told us that 'Nankana' won’t be preaching anything and isn’t based on Baba Nanak’s life!
He further clarified that the story is written by the Producer Pooja Gujral and Nankana is a place in Punjab which has a symbolic representation in the movie, therefore the title. The lead starcast is the unconventional pair - Gurdas Maan and Kavita Kaushik.
We asked Jatinder Shah about the other movie 'Nanak' that will mark Raj Kundra's production debut in P-town and whether there's a similarity between both the movies, and he replied, "Our movie was announced way earlier. Our story is very authentic and something which would touch lives of the masses. We are concentrating on our own project and are putting in all the efforts to make it a success."
"The movie has nothing to do with Baba Nanak. We aren’t showing him and neither is anybody portraying Baba Nanak onscreen. The movie doesn’t have anything controversial or anything for which we need the SGPC permission," he stated.
Shah further added that the movie would be shot in one schedule at a stretch and that the shoot has already finished.
He signed off by saying that there are many other character artists in the movie but those will be revealed as and when the posters get released.
