We often complain that we don’t have enough women oriented movies in Punjab and the ones which manage to make their way to the theatres are mostly not received well. Also, we keep grumbling that our Punjabi veteran actors are not used to their full capacity in Pollywood and they are a mere side role player, be it comic or otherwise. But the freshly released trailer of Hard Kaur has somehow managed to shush our whines.
Starring veteran actress Nirmal Rishi in a powerful avatar, Hard Kaur features Drishti Grewal and Deana Uppal in bold characters.
The movie is based on a Kaur named Seerat, who is stalked by a filthy rich impostor. Satwant Kaur, a sikhni played by Nirmal Rishi knows the girl and comes to her rescue when the boy misbehaves with her. Amarjit, played by Drishti, is a lawyer who defends Seerat's legal suite. These Kaurs, together, fight against the society who bully, ridicule and abuse women.
Though this one seems to be inspired from the Bolly flick 'Pink' but I'd like to appreciate the Director's gutts for choosing this topic amidst the array of commercial films being made thesedays.
The trailer gives us an insight of what we will be served in the final platter and that includes sensitive issues like stalking, harassment, drugs and more. The courtroom drama is something that I'm not confident about and that too because of Drishti's over expressive dialogue delivery.
Hard Kaur hits the theaters on 15th December 2017 and marks the debut of Deana Uppal in Punjabi industry.
