The first track 'Kaavaan Kaavaan' from his upcoming film Lucknow Central has already released and Gippy Grewal, who is now in Mumbai for work related commitments, is enjoying the much deserved attention.
Playing a jail inmate named Parminder Singh Gill 'Pali', Qaidi number 1414, Gippy Grewal has already wooed everyone with his rowdy look and now his fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the film on 15th September.
Why does he need to make one?? Would it affect his association with the other labels?? Will he release his own songs through it?? What would the label be for?? All these questions and many more came to our minds when we saw the announcement and because he's a busy man, it took us sometime to reach out to him but finally when we did, here's what he had to say:
"The label is also a part of production and I have my reasons for starting it. Our films have been doing pretty well at the box office and our music sells like hot cup cakes. What hurts is that because we were not equipped enough, we had to sell our music rights to an outside label. Be it Ardaas or Manje Bistre, our music has been loved by one and all. We wish to retain our musical rights and that is why I thought of starting my own label", said Gippy Grewal.
So, does that mean that you won't be working with the other labels now??
"Oh that's not true! I am making songs for many labels, rather I won't release my own tracks on my label, as of yet. I don't want people to assume that I have opened this label for my own songs. It is a platform for every good artist coming to us and we will offer competitive services to them for their projects."
Even BPraak and Jaani have started their own label. What's with everyone?
"Yeah and they've even approached me for a song."
Have you said yes?
"Well, I said krlange, chakkar ee koini."
How about your production house? Are you going to work with a fixed set of people or you'll be partnering with others too??
"I am the sole owner of Humble Motion Pictures and partner with others as and when the need arises, or as I may say, as and when people get interested in my projects. During Ardaas, Badshah and Aman Khatkar joined hands with me and for Manje Bistre, Jaggi and my other mates pooled in. Content quality is what interests producers to pool in their sums for the project and in future as well, if I get a project that's convincing enough, I'd be happy to partner with others for the best outcome."
Finally, now that there's a lot of hype around Lucknow Central already, what are your expectations from the film?
"I am happy to make a comeback in Bollywood with the much needed 'khatarnaak' character that I had been waiting for. I am in Mumbai right now and the film is buzzing with full power. I am hoping that this one will be loved by all and looking at the way thinds are going, I have already gathered a lot of appreciation for my look in the film as 'Pali'.
Any more Bollywood projects lined up??
"Mumbai vich ghumrae aa..kam kar rhe aa..dhuma saarey paase paiyan hoiyan and yes, there are 2-3 projects that I am doing but no official announcements have been made so far, so I' let you know when the time is right."
Hoping that this comeback proves worthwhile for this desi rockstar who has been delivering hits after hits in Punjabi cinema. We wish the entire team all the best for their new label and for all those who wish to get updated about it, click on the link below and LIKE their page.
