Bollywood is gradually opening many opposrtunities for our Punjabi actors and while Diljit's entry was pretty impactful, there are others now who have rolled up their sleeves for their B-town debut.
Last year Gippy Grewal's Lucknow Central got him quite a limelight and now Jassie Gill is geared up for his forthcoming film, marking his Bollywood debut.
Not to forget Jimmy has been B-town's favourite man from Punjab but honestly speaking, Bollywood makers are very smart when it comes to picking up talent from Punjab. Artists like Guru Randhawa and Harrdy Sandhu are creating an edge with their music and Manav Vij kind of character actors have a special place for them in Bollywood.
Topping our list is Ammy Virk who started off with Angrej and has given some outstanding performances in the last two years. The dearth of turbaned actors in Bollywood might just pull this actor –singer there. Ammy is just like Diljit : good in acting, singing and very raw in his performances, which make him stand out.
Sargun Mehta: She has come to Pollywood from television but the amount of talent this lady has surely deserves a place in Bollywood. Sargun has style and skills both. She has earned accolades from everywhere and awards which in a way support my opinion of her landing into Bollywood.
Sonam Bajwa: This lady has diverse personality. She is bold yet elegant. Sonam is the perfect Bollywood material. Her style and the way she carries herself in Punjabi industry is something I haven’t seen in years. Sonam’s sassy looks, superlative skills and perfect body are something that Bollywood ought to notice.
Satinder Sartaaj: The multi talented Sufi singer, poet, philosopher and now an actor, should also be one of the many who deserve Bollywood. He started his acting career from The Black Prince, which is a Hollywood movie. His intelligent selection and dedication towards the project is something we rarely see these days. Though he says that he's been offered Bolly projects already but we really would want to see him on the Bolly screens.
Simi Chahal is a relatively new face in P-town but this girl has talent. She has won our hearts with her performances. Be it Guddi, Pakko, Mishri or Basant Kaur, her performances have been loved by critics too. She has already tasted the B-town hype during her promotional journey of Sarvann but what we think is that her talent is something that deserves Bollywood attention. We see her doing character roles in offbeat cinema, similar to what Richa Chadda, Kalki and Radikha Apte do. What do you think?
These were my few recommendations who deserve to be noticed by B-town makers but if there's someone you'd like to recommend then go ahead and shoot us a message and we'll add him or her to our list.
