Punjab based Bollywood actress Alka Kausal, best known for playing Kareena Kapoor's mother in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, has been sentenced by Sangrur court for two years imprisonment, along with her mother Susheela Badola.
According to the advocate, farmer Avtar Singh of village Lagriya was an acquaintance to Alka who borrowed an amount of 50 lakhs from him as a loan to make a TV serial. But when Avtar wanted his money back then the mother daughter duo handed over 2 cheques of 25 lacs each to Avtar. The cheques got bounced, after which Avtar filed a legal suit against them both in Malerkotla court.
In the year 2015, the court had sentenced them to 2 years imprisonment along with a repayment of double the amount but both fled free after getting bail and filed an appeal in Sangrur court. On Thursday, both were convicted and are now behind bars.
