Nearly 18,350 intoxicant capsules and tablets, 135 gm drug powder, 150 gm heroin, 3 cars, one bike, one pistol and 2 cartridges were recovered by Jalandhar police after they arrested 11 people for drug peddling in 4 separate cases.
The accused include Lovely Professional University (LPU) student Rajan Masih, 25, of Jalandhar’s Karan Enclave and lyricist Jaswinder Singh Billa, 36, of Kolgarh in SBS Nagar (Nawanshahr) district.
Billa has most famously written the song ‘saade baare dil vich rakhin na bhulekha’ for Punjabi singer Jazzy B. SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar added that Billa had also written songs for Manmohan Waris.
The other accused have been identified as Kiranjeet Singh (26) of Garhshankar, Rajinder Rana, 30, Rakesh Rocky, 26, of Bullowal in Hoshiarpur, Gursharan Singh, 19, of Valtoha, Sukhjinder Singh, 25, of Udhoke in Tarn Taran, Mukesh Sharma, 37, of Una in Himachal Pradesh, Mohammad Ali, 32, of Bhogpur, Jummadin, 29, of Dhaliwal and Sukhvir Singh, 35, a kabaddi player, of Kapurthala’s Subhanpur who had played in Hong Kong.
Another accused Mohammad Ali was nabbed with 35-gm intoxicant powder, Jummadin and Sukhvir were arrested with 45-gm drug powder.
In another instance (separate from the above four cases), CIA-II head Inspector Shiv Kumar and his team arrested two people Harjinder Singh,48, Shashi Kumar, 27, of Rajowal, allegedly associated with a contractual gang busted a few days ago.
