Shareek is one of my favorite movies. It spoke about the most commonly heard issues of Punjabi men where brothers turn enemies merely for a chunk of land.
Shareek was a perfect combination of blood, familial relationships and greed mixed with some love.
Jimmy Sheirgill and his villainous shareeks Mukul Dev, Prince KJ and Simarjeet turned out to be the most sought after actors of that time when Shareek was termed as a HIT but how many of you really know that these actors weren't the first choice when casting was on!
Here is something really interesting about the movie which no one told you but my secret source told me and I am sharing it with you.
Shareek's script was ready by 2012/13 and actor duo like Gippy Grewal-Harbhjan Mann and Gurdas Maan-Dijit Dosanjh was being considered for casting but things didn’t work out and the makers moved on to find other faces. The original script was based on the life of two brothers and their families but the main subject of property dispute(Shareekebazi) was intact. Later the script was reworked on and Jimmy played the lead role.
Things didn’t work out as per plan and the movie got delayed.

Having produced more than 150 films in 13 Indian languages, he was the one who initially wanted to have Shareek in his kitty but when the movie got delayed he went on to produce Singh Vs Kaur starring Gippy Grewal and Surveen Chawla.
