Popular Punjabi singer Master Saleem has been grabbing a lot of headlines for all the wrong reasons. The singer had foot in his mouth as he gave his remarks on Mata Chintapurni during the yearly programme at Baba Murad Shah, Nakodar. Despite singer’s apology, people have been bashing the singer on social media. In fact, #BoycottMasterSaleem too has been trending on social media. Actually, several posters have been put up in Jalandhar Cantt suggesting Master Saleem will be performing at the Jagran (Vigil). This irked the public in general who demanded that singer should not be invited for the performance. #BoycottMasterSaleem posters have also been circulated widely in Jalandhar to prevent singer’s participation in any Jagran. The protestors raised a concern over the singer, stating who would be responsible if the singer gave any controversial remarks for the second time.

For the uninitiated, Master Saleem at Nakodar had stated, “Main chintpurni gaya, Mata Rani ke darshan kiye, pujari ji ne ache tareeke se darshan karvaye. Iske baad kehte aarti le lo, fir maine aarti le li. Iske baad unhone mujhe kaha ki aaiye baithte hain, fir unhone kaha ye to ho gayi maa ki baat, maa ne tumhe aashirvaad de dia, ab sunao mere peo da ki haal hai, yaani Baba Murad Shah ka kya haal hai.” This statement of Master Saleem did not go well with the public following which Master Saleem had to post an apology video on social media.
