Punjabi actress Poonam Rajput who was last seen in the 2015 Punjabi movie 'What The Jatt' will soon be making her debut in the much anticipated Vidya Balan starrer Bolly flick 'Begum Jaan'.
Vidya Balan is playing the role of a brothel owner. The film is set in the backdrop the post independence era and is the Hindi remake of the Bengali film Rajkahini. It depicts the journey and struggle of a bunch of sex workers who fight against all odds to maintain their existence and dignity.
Poonam will be seen essaying the character of Rani in the film, who is a Pahadi girl with Gadhwali accent.
She said, “I hope that, Begum Jaan will be biggest turning point of my career as I come from completely non-filmy background from a small village of Himachal Pradesh and it has been very hard but fruitful journey as I am working in Vidya Balan and Mahesh Bhatt produced film. I already know that lot of good things will happen to me as far as my acting career is concerned.”
