At times films don’t go beyond an announcement. We have written about shelved films about several Punjabi film celebrities. This time it is Diljit Dosanjh who is not only the biggest name in the Punjabi Film industry but one of the greatest entertainers of the country.

A NEERU BAJWA PRODUCTION:

Ten years back, Neeru Bajwa had announced a film under her home production with Gurdas Maan and Diljit Dosanjh. She had announced it with much fanfare as it was hugely covered by the media but film did not go beyond an announcement.

JATT ROMANTIC:

A known Hindi film director, Dharmesh Darshan was to venture in to Punjabi cinema with a film called, ‘Jatt Romantic’ in the year 2012. It was to star Diljit Dosanjh, Neeru Bajwa, Karan Kundrra, Gurleen Chopra and Binnu Dhillon in the lead roles. After creating a lot of initial buzz, ‘Jatt Romantic’ remained barely an announcement.

KANEDA:

After doing ‘Phillauri’ with Anushka Sharma, Diljit was to team up with the actress once again in ‘Kaneda’ in the year 2017. But the much-anticipated Hindi film was shelved soon after an announcement.

RANNA CH DHANNA:

A title taken from Khushwant Singh’s book was to be used for Diljit Dosanjh’s film which was announced in 2020 and was to be directed by Amarjit Singh Saron. However, no further news about its development came out. It’s believed right after its announcement Gippy Grewal had started film ‘Shava Ni Giridhari Lal’, which had similarities with ‘Ranna Ch Dhanna’. It was decided to avoid any conflict between two projects and ‘Ranna Ch Dhanna’ was shelved.

SHAAD ALI FILM:

Diljit had worked under the direction of Shaad Ali before he next planned a romantic comedy with him and Yami Gautam but after initial buzz, the film could not go beyond the planning stage.

A TIPS FILM:

Prior to Shaad Ali’s film, Diljit Dosanjh and Yami Gautam were to come together for Ramesh Taurani’s tips films under the direction of Aziz Mirza’s son Haroon Mirza. But it was then reported that Diljit was not convinced with the script and also could not adjust his dates. So the two films announced with Yami Gautam remained shelved.

JATT & JULIET 3:

In the years gone by, it became a huge news in the Punjabi film industry that Diljit Dosanjh & Neeru Bajwa are coming together for the third instalment of ‘Jatt & Juliet’. Simerjit Singh was to direct the film but nothing concrete came out about the film later on.

SHIDDAT:

It was being reported that Diljit was doing Karan Zohar’s, ‘Shiddat’ under the direction of Abhishekh Verman along with a huge star cast consisting of Madhuri Dixit, Tabu, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt but it seems subject got in to some changes and cast too went through changes. Instead of making ‘Shiddat’ with Diljit Dosanjh & others, Dharma productions went ahead with ‘Kalank’.

GOOD NEWWZ SEQUEL:

There were articles doing the rounds that Good Newwz director Raj Mehta was planning a sequel with Diljit Dosanjh in which makers wanted to take forward his loud Punjabi character in sequel but then Raj Mehta started working on ‘Jugg Jugg Jeeyo’ and nothing happened on ‘Good Newwz’ sequel.

SOORMA SEQUEL:

Hockey player Sandeep Singh shared on twitter that producer Deepak Singh will start a film on an onward journey of him. Though no one else from the previous film talked about it. Had it been planned, Diljit would have taken the story forward but considering the kind of controversies Sandeep Singh got in to, it’s good that sequel did not start at all.

SAADI LOVE STORY:

Just when the film was about to release, the team had hinted about the possibility of a sequel but due to average response to the film, team did not went ahead with its sequel.

FAUJA SINGH BIOPIC:

Director Omung Kumar had announced a biopic on Marathon Runner, Fauja Singh with Diljit Dosanjh in the lead role, it has been more than a year since the news about it came out in media but so far there is no progress on it.
