Slain singer Sidhu Moosewala left for his heavenly abode on May 29 but he will always be remembered as a mega superstar who could make anyone and everyone groove to his beats.
A symbolism of strength and virility, Sidhu was known for his fondness and unabashed love for guns and weapons which was apparent in his songs, music videos and real-life pictures. It was this ‘macho’ image due to which youth could find a connect with him resulting in millions following him on social media. His loyal fans would never miss a chance to attend his live concert. Actually, it was only last year (2021) when Sidhu was invited by the college in Ludhiana from where he graduated as an electrical engineer. While addressing the students, he had confessed, “I might have performed in front of 2-4 lakh people on big stages but my legs are shaking as I stand here and speak in front of my teachers”.
But the humble being he was, he expressed gratitude towards his teachers and had said that whatever Shubhdeep Sidhu could become was only because of the guidance that he had got from the teachers there. “My alma mater is no less than any Gurdharam for me”, he had said. In an interview, his teachers had stated that the singer was very shy who would even stammer a bit during one-on-one interactions but would become a different person when performing on stage. “He wasn’t a perfect singer, but a crowd puller”.
