Being desperate for a job and with no specific intention in mind, Kaushal began his journey in Mumbai as a sales representative. However, his first job lasted only for a year as he realized his interests were somewhere else.
But luck was on his side as another chance meeting happened when he came across some Punjabi boys in the neighborhood who worked as stuntmen in the industry. This changed his life completely as he worked as a stuntman for 7 years before getting the big break as an independent action director in 1990 with 'Indrajalam', a Malayalam film directed by Mr Thampy Kannamthanam and starring Malayalam superstar Mohanlal.
