Did You Know Surveen Chawla Did Not Want To Become An Actor?

Surveen Chawla's journey from a hardcore studious kid to the glamour queen of the film industry is nothing short of awe. The actress who once wanted to be a doctor had acting nowhere on her list of priorities and most importantly her grades were giving wings to her dream of becoming a doctor.

Till 10th grade, medical preparations were the only thing on her mind but all of sudden an instance changed her life forever. In a wedding ceremony, she performed on the song ‘Nimooda Nimooda’, a hit song of that era. Her flawless performance astonished each and everyone who saw her performance. Everyone right from her family members to her relatives gave her a pat on her back. This pat changed her mind. The admiration turned her attention towards the entertainment industry and henceforth she took a call that Mumbai will be her ultimate destination.

To the surprise of everyone, she dropped the idea of becoming a doctor and eventually the ‘doctor’ got replaced by ‘actor.’ A girl who was planning to take up Medical suddenly ended up taking Commerce. After going to Mumbai she got her first break in Ekta Kapoor's daily Soap ‘Kahin To Hoga’. Her role in the soap was praised to such an extent that she was taken back into the serial after being replaced by someone else. Alongside ‘Kahin To Hoga’, she got vital roles in other soaps like ‘Kasauti Zindagi Ki’ and ‘Kaajjal’. 

Till 2008, Surveen had become a known face in the TV industry.  Around 2008, she got an opportunity to enter into South Indian Cinema with ‘Paramesha Panwala’ opposite Shivraj Kumar. This movie opened the pathway for her in the South and she started getting movies one after the other along with some Punjabi movies. 

Soon, she also got her first break in Bollywood with ‘Hum Tum Shabana’ but the year 2013-14 was an ultimate turning point for her career when Ugly (2013) and Hate Story 2 (2014) were released in theatres. Both these movies brought her into the limelight and critics took serious note of her performance. Her performance in the web series ‘Haq Se’ was also praised extensively.
