In an award ceremony held on 15th December, Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi announced that a Punjabi Film Development Council will be established so as to promote Punjabi Language and Culture.
As per the Chief Minister, films are one of the most effective methods of communication today and setting up a council to promote our glorious culture is need of the hour. Also Read: Kartar Cheema Announces Next Film ‘Professor’!
A proposal regarding the council will be cleared in the upcoming cabinet meeting, said Channi at the event. The event honored artists like Late Gurmeet Bawa, Sardool Sikander. Punjabi singers and actors like Guggu Gill, Sidhu Mooselwala, Gurpreet Ghuggi, Karamjit Anmol, Yograj Singh, Upasna Singh, Satinder Satti, Ranjit Bawa and Master Saleem were also present while the CM made these announcements.
Previously, CM Channi has also contributed towards the Punjabi cinema by inaugurating the Punjab film city. Also, he was the first one to allow the complete opening of theatres to encourage Punjabi cinema. Also Read: Punjab Film City Inaugurated In Mukaronpur Village!
