Arvind Trivedi, Ramayan’s Raavan Left For His Heavenly Abode In Mumbai

Veteran actor Arvind Trivedi known for playing the role of Ravana in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana passed away on Tuesday at the age of 82. Reportedly, he was not keeping well for some time and suffered a cardiac attack and organ failure.

The news of his demise was confirmed by the actor’s nephew, Kaustubh Trivedi to a leading daily. He also revealed that his last rites will take place at Dahanukarwadi crematorium, Kandivali West, in Mumbai on Wednesday morning. As soon as the news of his demise surfaced Arvind’s co-stars took to social media to mourn over the loss.

Sunil Lahri who played the role of Laxman shared a series of photographs of the late actor and wrote, “Bahut dukhad Samachar hai ki Hamare Sabke Pyare Arvind bhai (Ravan of Ramayan) Ab Hamare bich Nahin Rahe Bhagwan Unki Atma ko Shanti De...I am speechless I lost father figure, my guide, well wisher & gentleman”. Dipika Chikhlia also took to her social media handle and penned an emotional note for the actor and stated, “My heartfelt condolences to his family a very fine human being #arvindtrivedi #ravan (sic).”

ABOUT ARVIND TRIVEDI:

Arvind Trivedi was born on November 8, 1938 in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. He started off his career with Gujarati Theater. He became a household name after playing Ravan in Ramayan. The mythological show aired from January 1987 to July 1988 which also starred Aruv Govil, Dipika Chikhlia and Sunil Lahiri as Ram, Sita and Lakshman, respectively. The popularity of the show sky-rocketed again after it aired on TV again during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. Apart from this, he also played a pivotal role in Vikram aur Betaal.  In 2002, he was named as the working chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). In the year 1991, the late actor also tried his hand in politics and was elected as a Member of the Parliament from the Sabarkatha constituency. He was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and held the position till 1996.
