Punjabi Singer Manmeet Singh's Body Found In Kangra After Flash Floods

Popular Sufi singer Manmeet Singh on Monday lost his life in flash flood in Kangra district. He had gone for trekking to Kareri lake above Mcleodganj in Dharamshala along with his brother and some friends where he slipped and fell into a nullah and was swept away in the gushing water. His body was recovered on Tuesday evening which was brought to Dharamshala during the wee hours of Wednesday. The same was confirmed by the senior superintendent of police (Kangra) Vimukt Ranjan. 


Reportedly, Manmeet went missing in Liyun Khad near Mcleodganj after which a search operation was launched to trace him. As per officials, the singer must have tried to run for cover but slipped and fell into Kareri lake after torrential rains and flash floods hit Dharamshala and its adjoining tourist spots.

He was reported missing on Monday after his friends informed the police, following which a search operation began. Now, sources said that post-mortem of body would be conducted at government hospital Dharamshala after which it would be handed over to the family members. Let us tell you, he was one of the singers of Sain Brothers who was known for sufi songs not just in Punjab but across the country. If reports were to believe, at least nine persons died and eight others went missing due to the flash floods in Himachal Pradesh on Monday. According to the data provided by the state revenue department and the state disaster management authority, 142 roads are blocked in the state, at present.

After the flash flood on Monday, chief minister Jai Ram Thakur took an aerial survey of the state and assured that the state government will provide new hoises at the Boh Valley, which has been damaged the most in the flash flood. "A village in Boh was severely hit during heavy rains on Monday. I am sad to hear that a woman has lost her life in this landslide. Nine people are still trapped under the debris.
