Underworld don Rajendra Nikalje aka Chhota Rajan has died due to COVID-19 today at the age of 61 at the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. He was admitted to the AIIMS last week after an officer of the Tihar prison telephonically informed the sessions court about their inability to produce Rajan via video conference before the judge as the gangster had tested positive for Covid-19 and was admitted to the AIIMS.
Rajan was considered as a high-risk coronavirus patient as he suffered from a slew of comorbidities, including diabetes, heart problem, kidney failure, hernia, laparotomy and hypertension. Also Read : Asaram Bapu Rushed To ICU After Being Tested Positive For Covid 19
He has been in the high security Tihar jail in Delhi since his arrest in 2015 after deportation from Bali, Indonesia. After this, he was convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment in a murder case of journalist Jyotirmoy Dey in the year 2018.
It has also been reported that the deceased had around 70 criminal cases against him in relation to extortion and murder in Mumbai.
