While the emergency service providers are putting in their heart and soul day and night, we as citizens, are staying indoors to help stop the spread of this life-threatening virus.
Now, while the country is still under lockdown, celebs are coming forth to offer donations towards the Prime Minister's relief fund to support the fight against the pandemic. Kapil Sharma has announced the contribution of Rs 50 lakh towards the fund after Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan announced a donation of Rs 2 crores. The virus has taken more than 14,500 lives across the globe and this contribution can help the government in fighting a battle against it.
Taking to Twitter, Kapil wrote, "It’s time to stand together with the ones who need us. Contributing Rs.50 lakhs to the PM relief fund towards the #fightagainstcorona. Request everyone to #stayhome #staysafe #jaihind #PMrelieffund @narendramodi."
Announcing a sum of Rs 2 crores to the government's relief fund, Pawan Kalyan tweeted, "I will be donating Rs.50 Lakhs each to both AP and Telangana CM relief funds to fight against Corona pandemic."
Inspired by him, actor Ram Charan also contributed Rs 70 lakh. "Hope this tweet finds you in good health. At this hour of crisis, inspired by @PawanKalyan garu, I want to do my bit by contributing to aid the laudable efforts of our governments..."
Other celebrities such as Karan Johar, Taapsee Pannu, Rajkummar Rao and Ayushmann Khurrana, have also pledged their support to a new initiative aimed at supporting the daily wage-earners who have been severely affected by the lockdown.
On the other hand, Sufi maestro turned politician Hans Raj Hans has also written to the Commissioner of New Delhi MC about his will towards donating a sum of Rs. 50 lakhs from his MPLAD.
He tweeted: "I wish to contribute Rs.50,00,000 from my MPLAD for fighting pandemic #COVID2019 . Together we will fight this out. Stay Home Stay Safe.'
Offering help to those in the Punjabi industry who have been severely affected by the ongoing lockdown, NZFTAA - North Zone Film & TV Artists Association has appealed to the industry people to contribute towards their fund so that the members can offer at least a month's ration to those in need.
