Nowadays we see many big celebrity faces from Bollywood paying obeisance at Darbar Sahib Amritsar. Some seek blessings while there are some who only come as a part of their PR activity. For Gurudwara Committee Members these visits are an everyday affair where they guide these stars about the history of this holy place.

Most recently Sunny Deol, Karishma Kapoor, Sushmita Sen visited The Golden Temple. Our Punjabi film celebs are generally seen at Darbar Sahib when they kick start their film promotions. While devotees go there to seek blessings, some film fanatics get over excited when they spot their favorite celebrities inside the vicinity of Darbar Sahib.

Celebrities visiting Shri Harimandir Sahib is not a new thing but in recent years, the number has increased manyfold. But more than two decades back, when a superstar heroine came here, it was an experience of a new kind for many in Amritsar.

Madhuri Dixit who recently turned 52, had visited Darbar Sahib in the past, much before the arrival of camera mobile phones and VIP celeb culture. Madhuri was already a big star but Hum Apke Hai Kaun took her to another level at that time. She wanted to keep her visit to Darbar Saheb low profile but somehow the press got to know about it at last moment.

Soon the news spread like wildfire and while many couldn't believe their ears, the others soon gathered inside the parikrama of the Holy Court to catch a glimpse of their favorite superstar.

Dressed in a yellow-cream Punjabi suit, Madhuri came and offered prayers inside the gurudwara hall. She later interacted with Gurudwara committee members, who also gave her Holy books and Siropa. She later posed for quick pictures for the press and left the scene.

Channa Choore Wala (An Amritsar based shopkeeper), who celebrates her birthday every year, was one of the luckiest fellows who got to see a glimpse of her at that time. The man named Gurcharan Singh celebrated Madhuri's birthday this year as well.

Back then Punjab was not considered safe by B-town but things began to change when three queens of Bollywood Sridevi, Madhuri & Juhi came to Punjab. Sridevi came to Chandigarh in 1993, Juhi Chawla came for a star concert in 1994 in Ludhiana and Madhuri came to Amritsar in 1995.

Later on, major cities of Punjab witnessed a number of star nights of big stars. Now we see them coming for their film promotions, product launch shows & political campaigns.
