Born and brought up in Chandigarh, Sargun was initially studying in Sacred Heart School and then moved to Carmel Convent. She did her graduation in Bachelor of Commerce from the Kirori Mal College, Delhi University. She did theatre there for three good years.
“My college was on and I got a show and then did 6 to 7 years of TV before I got this inclination towards doing films, but was not very sure of where and how I should step in, in terms of Bollywood,” said Sargun in an interview.
After finishing her Bachelor’s degree, she began studying for a Master’s degree in Business Management, but left to pursue her acting career. Thereafter, she was cast in the television programme 12/24 Karol Bagh. After the programme ended, she shifted to Mumbai.
Another shocking fact is that she was rejected after auditioning for the famous dance show Boogie Woogie!

Mehta’s fame increased when she appeared in the 2011 television series Phulwa and the 2012 Kya Huaa Tera Vaada. She established herself as a leading actress in 2013, when she appeared in the Colors TV drama series Balika Vadhu.

“I didn’t know I was ever going to do films but after I came to a certain point of my career in TV I thought let me try films and why not Punjabi, because that’s my home ground,” Sargun confessed.
Soon to be seen in Jindua releasing 17th March, Sargun is one actress, we’re glad made it to the Punjabi industry 🙂
